Studs scramble for Scintillo

Group 1 winner Scintillo is on the market as a stallion prospect and Melbourne based agent Peter Ford has fielded numerous offers for him from Australia and abroad.

Scintillo (6h Fantastic Light – Danseuse Du Soir by Thatching) was bred by Woodcote Stud and sold for 30,000gns at the 2006 Tattersalls October yearling sale.

He was trained by Richard Hannon to win a Sandown 2yo maiden in July 2007 and his juvenile campaign culminated with a G1 victory in the Gran Criterium in Milan.

Scintillo returned at three to be G2 placed in the 2008 Great Voltigeur Stakes at Goodwood before hitting his straps the following year with victories in the LR Dragonfly Stakes, G3 Winter Derby and G2 Grand Prix de Chantilly.

He was sold to Victorian based owner Len Lucas to be prepared for the Melbourne Cup and, to escape another English winter, was transferred to California where he finished fourth as a 2/1 favourite in the G2 Jim Murray Hcp at Hollywood Park.

He arrived here in January and won a Cranbourne trial in May before suffering a suspensory injury.

Scintillo is by Darley champion Fantastic Light from Danseuse Du Soir.  The dam was trained by Elie Lellouche for Daniel Wildenstein and was a Group 1 winner of the French 1000 Guineas and Prix de la Foret.

Danseuse Du Soir also foaled Irish G3 winner Jumbajukiba (Barathea) and her latest is Woodcote homebred Authora.  She is a first-crop runner for Darley shuttler Authorized and was an encouraging fourth on her second run at Newbury last Friday.

Woodcote has catalogued a Duke Of Marmalade – Danseuse Du Soir colt for Book 2 of the upcoming Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.  The mare foaled a filly by Champs Elysees earlier this year.
