Sundance emerged as a leading candidate for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic via an effortless victory in the LR Phelan Ready Stakes (1050m) at Doomben.

Revelling in the soft conditions second-up, he was never headed to score by almost five lengths and the ease of the win wasn’t unexpected.  He landed a $4 into $2.70 gamble on Saturday

Sundance was a $140,000 purchase for Julian Blaxland’s Blue Sky Bloodstock (FBAA) from Newhaven Park earlier this year on the Gold Coast.  “He has always shown a lot of potential,” trainer Toby Edmonds said.  “I thought he would win first-up at Doomben but he was a run short.

“He will probably go straight into the Magic Millions without another run.  He’s a pretty gross sort of horse so I might give him a trial or a jump-out before the race.”

Bookmakers have firmed Sundance into $12 for the 2YO Classic on January 9.  “He was a bit uptight before the race but was right once in the barriers,” jockey Jeff Lloyd said.  “I couldn’t believe how easy he was doing it and he let down quickly.  He was very impressive.”

Sundance (2c I Am Invincible – Pacific Dreams by Desert Prince) is managed by Blue Sky Bloodstock and the colt’s syndicate includes Vera Lee, Ron Hamer, Ivan Rados and Rob Woods.

He has a full brother entered for the Inglis Easter yearling sale in April and their dam Pacific Dreams foaled a Starspangledbanner colt in October.

Aushorse reported Sundance brought up a juvenile stakes double for Blue Sky Bloodstock’s yearling purchases following the LR Calaway Gal Stakes win by Zelady’s Night Out.
