Trainer Tony McEvoy will consider taking on all-comers with his star filly Sunlight after she did it at both ends to win the G3 Thoroughbred Club Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield.

Sunlight improved her strike-rate to 7 wins in 10 starts on Saturday leaving McEvoy in a dilemma for her next start in Melbourne. He’s leaning towards a start in the G1 Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley on October 26 instead of the G1 Coolmore Stakes at Flemington on November 3.

“She’s all quality with a great constitution that loves to be trained and I love training her,” McEvoy said. “I won the Manikato with Hey Doc last year and I would love to win it again with her.

“The Valley is a speed track and she’s a speedy filly. And with 51kg, she won’t be vulnerable like they can be down the straight at Flemington.”

Sunlight (3f Zoustar – Solar Charged by Charge Forward) was a $300,000 buy for Blue Sky Bloodstock (FBAA) agent Julian Blaxland at the 2017 Gold Coast Magic Millions for a syndicate of ladies that includes Aquis Farm’s Loretta Fung.

She blitzed the RL Magic Millions Classic in January and then reeled in the G2 Silver Slipper and G3 Magic Night Stakes prior to a admirable third in the G1 Golden Slipper.

Resuming this season at Caulfield, Sunlight won the G3 Quezette Stakes before a front-running victory on Saturday. “She has great gate speed and was nice and fresh today,” jockey Luke Currie reported. “She’s a class act and was just too good for them.”

Her 2yo sister Sisstar will race in the same colours after making $600,000 to McEvoy’s successful bid at this year’s Gold Coast Magic Millions.

Blaxland also picked up a promising high-priced yearling at this year’s Inglis Easter Sale when paying $1.05 million for an I Am Invincible half-brother to G1 Golden Slipper winner Mossfun. Purchased in association with Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, he has been named Invincible Vision and looked a likely type winning two trials at Randwick in September.

“Invincible Vision was a magnificent yearling who has turned into a beautiful two year-old,” Blaxland said. “He showed good tactical speed and relaxed nicely for Tim (Clark) in his trials.”
