Scenic Lodge in conjunction with Swettenham Stud has signed proven sire Dash For Cash to stand in Western Australia.
Dash For Cash (Secret Savings) has sired the winners of over $17 million headed by 20 individual stakes performed horses and his career strike-rate is very high 64% winners-to-runners.
Formerly based at Swettenham Stud in Victoria, he is a regular in the Australian Top 50 sires and, more importantly, his stock are suited to Australian conditions and like him are sound horses that show natural early ability and then improve and train on.
Dash For Cash was a sensation on the track after a two year-old season that saw him win at Sandown on debut and then run a close second in the G2 Pago Pago Stakes at Rosehill. He went on to win five races in total including a Group 1double in the MRC Futurity Stakes at Caulfield and VRC Australian Guineas at Flemington.
“We’ve had our eye on Dash For Cash for some time as we thought he would be an ideal stallion for Western Australia,” Scenic Lodge general manager Jermey Smith said. “Obviously, it’s not easy to obtain these types of proven stallions but we are delighted to have secured him.
“The addition of Dash For Cash alongside Blackfriars will provide Scenic Lodge with the top two proven stallions on the current sires’ premiership in the state. Dash For Cash will also offer our clients a totally different bloodline to Blackfriars as he is free of Danehill line blood through Danzig and Northern Dancer.”
Scenic Lodge has enjoyed a terrific relationship with Swettenham Stud over the years having previously purchased champion Western Australian stallions Scenic and Blackfriars from the Sangster family.
Swettenham Stud and some of its clients have remained in the ownership of Dash For Cash and will continue to support him in his new home at Scenic Lodge.
“We didn’t take the decision lightly,” Adam Sangster said. “Dash for Cash has been a superb horse for the owners as a racehorse, for the stud as a stallion, and for the Australian breeder for his ability to throw a winner.
“The move will prolong his career as a commercial sire and he remains a very enthusiastic stallion. Swettenham has a very successful relationship with Scenic Lodge and we see the transfer as being a very natural fit.”
Dash For Cash is expected to arrive at Scenic Lodge in March and his service fee for this season will be finalised at a later date.
