Super return in Singapore

Smart sprinter Super Kenny (Host) made it back-to-back victories following serious injury in Singapore on Friday evening.

Super Kenny (4g Host – Mysterious Ransom by Red Ransom) was given the run of the race by Barend Vorster before balancing up in the straight.  He did best in a duel with front-runner Sand Lane (Sandtrap) to score by a head.

Shaw nursed Super Kenny back to health after the gelding had been injured during the G3 Singapore 3YO Sprint back in March.  “To see him come back and win again over 1000 metres is a great thrill,” he said.  “It was a good fighting win and now I might now for a 1200 metres race for him.”

While the margin was only narrow, Vorster was always confident of wearing down Sand Lane.  “It was a good tough win,” he said.  “They were flying along early and running some very quick sectionals.

“When we got into the straight I knew we would get there but I didn’t want to be in a hurry to win the race either.  He’s getting stronger all the time.”

Super Kenny is by Swettenham Stud sire Host (Chi) and was a $30,000 buy at the 2011 Gold Coast Magic Millions.  He has won 4 races and earned the equivalent of AUD 168,000 for owners Mark and Emily Yong.

Host (Hussonet) is among Australia’s leading third-season stallions and stands for a $9,900 (inc gst) service fee at Swettenham Stud this year.  For further information, broodmare owners should contact Adam Sangster (0418 543 633) or Chris Belli (0417 514 552).
