Forest View Farm vendors Ben and Jo Duncan celebrated a perfect start to sales week when Super Smink won the RL Magic Millions WA 2YO Classic (120m) at Pinjarra on Saturday.
The Duncans bred and sold Super Smink for $45,000 at the 2022 Perth Magic Millions to trainer Dan Morton and a large syndicate that includes several first-time part-owners. Settled in the running-line by Chris Parnham, she kicked clear with Snow Prince (Safeguard) and then edged away to score by a half-length.
Forest View graduate Champagne Street (Street Boss) was an other two lengths away in third place to earn a portion of the $75,000 WA Racing Women’s Bonus. “We’ve liked Super Smink for a long time,” Morton said. “We do a lot of homework before the Magic Millions and she was on my short-list. I was probably prepared to pay a bit more than $45,000.
“Drawing a gate here today all-important and then Chris nailed the ride – she’s pretty smart and that was fun!”
It was Parnham’s first win in the Magic Millions Classic. “She would have won last time if we had drawn a better barrier,” he claimed. “You never know where these two-year-olds could end up. The world is her oyster”
Parnham was referring to 2022 Classic heroine Sheeza Belter who has gone on to win a Group 1 in Brisbane and Group 2 in Sydney.
Super Smink (2f Super One – Sminky Shorts by Snitzel) is the third Magic Millions 2YO Classic for Morton following Camporella (2013) and Cadenza (2014). Her dam has a yearling colt by Sessions and her second-dam is a half-sister to Group 1 Railway Stakes winner Covertly (Metal Storm).
The Forest View graduate is the first Stakes winner by Super One (I Am Invincible) who stood at Newgate Farm and Newhaven Park before relocating to Lincoln Farm last year where he’s based with former WA studmaster Nick Posa.
There are 8 yearling from Forest View parading this week and among the highlights is the Sessions half-brother to three-time Listed winner Buzzoom (Lot 39). “She has won $550k and he’s also a full-brother to Boomtastic ($300k),” Ben Duncan said. “Check out how well he struts his stuff this week.”
Lot 101 is a striking colt by Frosted (USA) out of Garden of Eden (blackfriars). “It’s a cracking WA family and he’s a ripper,” Duncan claimed. “His half-sister All About Eve has shown an amazing turn of foot in Melbourne and this bloke will surely keep improving being a November foal.”
Duncan also has one of only two sons of Harry Angel (Lot 105). “We’re looking forward to offering him at the Magic Millions. His 3yo half-sister Grey Mistress is already a winner for Dan Morton.”
The Forest View consignment is housed at Barn C in the Swan Valley.
