Survived (NZ) alive for Triple Crown

Survived (NZ) can alive for the Hawke’s Bay Triple Crown by winning the G1 Windsor Park Plate at Hastings on Saturday.

Survived (4g Zed – Liberal by Generous) won the first leg with an emphatic success in the Makfi Challenge on August 31.  The Windsor Park Plate and Spring Classic complete the series.

While no horse has yet made a clean sweep of the Group 1 features at Hastings, jockey Opie Bosson is aware of Survived’s home track advantage.  “I rode Princess Coup and to win two legs but then she had to travel,” he said.  “He’s got a turn of foot and will have improved with the first day run.  The better ground will also suit him.”

Survived is prepared by John Bary, who also went close to lifting the Triple Crown in 2011 with Jimmy Choux (NZ).  The Thorn Park champion finished runner-up to Mufhasa in the Makfi and then claimed the remaining two legs.

Survived is by Zed (Zabeel) who stands at Grangewilliam Stud where his 2013 fee is advertised at $4,000 (plus gst).
