Kaphero filly Swing With Me is coming straight to town after toying with her provincial rivals on Monday.
Trainer Kym Hann will aim her at the Super VOBIS 3YO Fillies Hcp (1200m) at Sandown on April 16. “She’s up to a city midweek race or even better,” Hann predicted. “I knew the filly had ability from the start and she proved that earlier this week.”
Swing With Me (3f Kaphero – Shell I Swing by Celtic Swing) won the Harvey Norman Maiden Plate (1100m) by 6 lengths at Ararat. “She put lengths on them in a few strides,” Hann said. “It could have been more if Nikita (Beriman) had ridden her out.”
The winner was backed in from $13 to $8 despite a first-up failure at Swan Hill on March 14. “I don’t know what happened up there. I’m still scratching my head over that run.”
Swing With Me is by Swettenham Stud sire Kaphero and was bred in South Australia by Kiah Glenn owner Janita Edwards. “I have a great record with horses from Janita,” Hann said. “From memory, only one of them hasn’t won races.”
Hann, 26, started out in South Australia before a stint with Darley trainer Peter Snowden. He has been based at Bendigo since 2010 and another promising type in his stable is Glenrowan Prince (Bushranger) who finished midfield in the G2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes on March 8.
Kaphero has 14 lots catalogued for the Inglis Melbourne VOBIS Gold Yearling Sale at Oaklands on April 27 & 28.
