Let’s Talk was seen out in seven Belmont barrier trials before finally making his raceday debut at Northam on Thursday.
Trainer Jim Taylor had him well and truly primed for the Avon Valley and the market reflected that confidence as he firmed from $6 into a $3.60 favourite. The benefit of so many trials between a 2yo winter campaign through to a 4yo spring prep told at the business end of the Wittens Irrigation Maiden (1000m).
Let’s Talk (I’m All The Talk) tracked front-runner Beyond The Wall (Spirit of Boom) and they settled down to fight out the finish with Dubai’s Daughter (Pride Of Dubai) before the well-schooled first-starter won running away by three-quarters of a length.
“He wins on debut! “Taylor exclaimed. “He’s been a work in progress to get to this point so it was great to see ‘Talk’ reward his patient owners!”
His wife Tina and mum Lois were part of a syndicate that bought Let’s Talk for $85,000 at the 2022 Perth Magic Millions Yearling Sale. He had arrived on 21 August 2020 just 10 days after his dam Besannrose (All American) was purchased by Trevor Marshall for $3,500 at the Mungrup Stud Dispersal Sale.
Rangeview Stud’s Robbie and Jody Gray sold Let’s Talk as a yearling (as agent) for what was a very profitable turnaround on behalf of Marshall. Besannrose subsequently changed hands again and her latest foal is a Rangeview-bred yearling filly by resident sire Long Leaf.
Besannrose was bred by Arrowfield Stud and had completed a running double in Kalgoorlie for Ricky Brown before retiring to Mungrup Stud. Second-dam Anigma (Machiavellian) was bred in France and she threw 7 winners plus the unraced dam of King Louis (Equiano) who won a Group 3 Mongolian Khan Trophy (1200m) at Ellerslie.
