TasBreeders double in Victoria

Tasmanian Magic Millions Yearling Sale graduates grabbed a winning double in Victoria on Sunday.

Aceland Stud-bred gelding Tiger’s Cub was successful in the SITA Australia Hcp (1200m) at Ballarat for local trainer Jim Mason.  He dived right on the line to defeat the leader Make Mine Brandy by a short head.

Tiger’s Cub (4g Hold That Tiger – Grandchildrenslove by Noverre) had won last year’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic at Launceston and has continued to pay his way after making $30,000 at the 2011 Tasmanian Magic Millions yearling sale.

Armidale Stud bred and sold Happy As Hell who broke through in the Corsec Services Plate (1600m) at Kilmore on Sunday.  Starting a short-priced favourite, he came last at the half-mile and, despite lugging in, got up by a long neck.

Happy As Hell (3g Savoire Vivre – Gehenna by Ladoni) is trained by Terry & Karina O’Sullivan who have been massive supporters of the Tasmanian Sale.  And they have sourced a number of winners out of the Apple Isle.

The O’Sullivans paid $25,000 Happy As Hell from Armidale Stud at the 2012 Tasmanian Magic Millions yearling sale.  He is a son of former Armidale stallion Savoire Vivre (Sadler’s Wells) who was put down shortly after winning the Tasmanian sires’ title in 2011-12.

Happy As Hell’s dam Gehenna was a Listed winner of the 2003 Cascade Classic and she has already produced open class winners Gea Force and Hell Strong.

The 2014 Tasmanian Magic Millions yearling sale will be held on February 13 at the Inveresk Showgrounds.  For more information contact:
