TBQA launches Flood Appeal

Thoroughbred Breeders Queensland has launched its own Flood Appeal specifically targeting horse owners.  The TBQA kick started the initiative by donating thousands of dollars worth of hay and chaff to Central Queensland breeders and trainers.

“The floods have been devastating for thousands of people,” TBQA President Basil Nolan said.  “There’s lots of assistance being offered and we thought we should help our colleagues with their stock.”

Nolan and TBQA Vice President Stan Johnson organised a truckload of feed on Thursday.  Johnson braved the roads to deliver it personally.  He returned from Rockhampton Showgrounds with 15 horses.

“Stan and I had room for 15 horses which we offered to agist at Raheen and Craiglea Studs free-of-charge,” Nolan said.  “I’m hoping that other TBQA members will follow suit and either offer free agistment for a few weeks or make a financial donation to the TBQA so that we can distribute more stock feed.

“It’s not a happy start to the New Year for so many families.  This is the least we can do to ease the pressure.”

The Central Queensland region is just a small part of the area affected by this natural disaster and the TBQA would like to assist other needy breeders and trainers.

Offers of free agistment or a donation can be made by contacting the TBQA office 0412 026 540 or info@queenslandbreeders.com.au.
