Testa Rossa goes forth at Caulfield

The Testa Rossa bandwagon has been upgraded to juggernaut status after a successful day’s racing at Caulfield.  Vinery Stud’s red-hot stallion sired three stakes performers in consecutive races on the Memsie Stakes programme.

Testascana began the black-type blitz with a dominant victory in the Listed Heatherlie Handicap.  The Peter Moody trained galloper started a pronounced favourite and he responded to the challenge of stepping up to stakes company by powering home for a fourth straight victory.

Testascana has now built up a 17: 9-4-1 record for earnings of $260,000.  “He refuses to lie down and that’s what wins him his races,” Moody said.  “We thought he might have come to the end of this prep a couple of times but he’s very resilient.”

Red Colossus entered the fray for Testa Rossa with an eye-catching first-up effort in the G2 Memsie Stakes (1400m).  He stormed home to finish third to King’s Rose and Heart Of Dreams.

Red Colossus was a G3 winner of the Victoria Stakes (1400m) during the autumn carnival and he also finished fifth behind So You Think in last years’ G1 Mackinnon Stakes.

Testa My Patience followed up with a flashing second to G1 Galaxy winner Atomic Force in the Listed Slickpix Stakes (1100m).  The Mick Price trained gelding had also won four straight at Sandown and Caulfield in February – March.

Testa Rossa has finished fourth in the last two Australian sires’ premierships.  He is well placed to emulate if not better those results in 2011-12.
