Class filly Thump will launch a Group 1 assault on the Coolmore Stakes at Flemington after a last-start victory in the G3 Champagne Stakes at Moonee Valley.
The Champagne Stakes has been won in recent years by Victorian-bred fillies like Avenue (Limerick Lane) and Dan Baroness (Blue Gum Farm) and this year’s edition was sponsored by Thoroughbred Breeders Victoria in conjunction with Victoria’s leading Workers Compensation Agent, Gallagher Bassett.
Thump (Red Ransom) changed hands after the Champagne Stakes and will carry Cressfield Stud’s colours at Flemington on the opening day of the Melbourne Cup carnival.
