Till ticking over with Cash

Greta West Stud stallion Master Of Design has three in-form gallopers ready to strike again in Melbourne and Sydney on Wednesday.

The Mick Kent-trained Greyworm has opened up an odds-on favourite for the Le Pine Funerals Hcp (1400m) at Sandown while Designer Maid (Kris Lees) and Masterati (Joe Pride) are both fancied for their engagements at Warwick Farm.

Following their recent wins, Cash Crisis kept the till ticking over for Master Of Design with a narrow victory in the Lion Hcp (1400m) at Wagga last week. It was his fifth win for trainer Craig Widdison and the first with apprentice Akira Kajiya aboard.

Cash Crisis (4g Master Of Design – Out Of Credit by Alert) returned to the form that saw him win this year’s Albury City Hcp (1175m) when he clocked a tick outside the race-record in 68.83s. “He’s really quick, so early days nothing was quick enough to lead him,” Widdison said. “We’ve been trying to get him to settle and he’s so much more relaxed now.”

Among his owners is former Albury coach and Commercial Club president Barry Edmunds along with breeders Peter and David Tobin. He’s the first foal from Out Of Credit who didn’t trouble the judge in just two starts at Ballarat. Second-dam Draw Card won a G2 Magic Night Stakes for the Tobin brothers in 1990.

“He was only little early doors but has got a heart as big as himself,” Edmunds said. “We decided to give him to Craig and, from Day 1, he trialled well and has raced well ever since.”

Master Of Design (Redoute’s Choice) stands for a $4,400 fee at Greta West Stud with King Of Prussia ($2,200).
