Timely win for American Time

Geisel Park stallion All American has made an impact in his first season at stud in Western Australia.

He was the State’s busiest sire covering 113 mares to pip Alfred Nobel at the top of the popularity stakes in 2016.

Shortly after those figures were released by the Australian Stud Book, All American mare American Time returned to winning form in the $80,000 Wellington Cup (1700m).  She powered home from the back-half of the field to defeat Pippi’s Pride by a neck on Sunday.

“She had an interrupted preparation so I was concerned,” trainer Gratz Vella admitted.  “She was due to run in the Merimbula Cup last week but the meeting was called off.  We gave her the work but it isn’t as good as a race.”

American Time (5m All American – Danetana by Danehill) has plenty of residual value when she eventually retires to stud.  Her dam is a three-quarter sister to Fastnet Rock.
