Timely win for Bearcat filly in Perth

Unbeaten filly Time to Climb will be set for the G2 Karrakatta Plate after a blistering victory in the Magic Millions Perth 2YO Classic at Ascot on Saturday.

Time to Climb (2f  Bearcat – True Roman by Is It True) cruised to the lead under Pat Carbery and skipped clear in the straight to score by almost two lengths over Nediyms Ruler and Leamington.

Time to Climb is a younger half-sister to 2007 Karrakatta Plate winner Roman Time.  She is by Taunton Vale’s exciting young freshman sire Bearcat and was purchased from that stud’s draft at the 2009 Perth Magic Millions for $75,000.

Leading WA agent John Chalmers bought the Magic Millions winner last year and he returned to buy her yearling brother at last week’s sale for $120,000.

“She’s a very professional little filly,” trainer Trevor Andrews commented.  “It looked like she got a bit of a soft lead but they ran super time so she was obviously running along at a good clip.”

Time to Climb is unbeaten in three runs and has already earned her connections almost $250,000.  Her sire Bearcat has made a dream start at stud.  He was a four-time winner in Hong Kong and is a brother to deceased Yarraman Park sire Catbird.

Bearcat (Danehill) is based at Kent Johnston’s Taunton Vale nursery and his second crop were amongst the most popular at the 2010 Perth Magic Millions.
