Timely win for Juddmonte Farm

Timepiece arrived in time to give Juddmonte Farm owner Khalid Abdullah his latest Group 1 in the Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket on Friday.

Timepiece (4f Zamindar – Clepsydra by Sadler´s Wells) is trained by Sir Henry Cecil and races in the same colours as champion colt Frankel (Galileo) and two-time English Champion Stakes winner Twice Over (Observatory).

Cecil has been very patient with Juddmonte Farm homebred and has treated her very carefully.  She was finally thrown in at the deep end on Friday against the Group 1 winning mares Sahpresa (England), River Jetez (South Africa), Lily Of The Valley (France) and Antara (Germany).

“She did it very well and I’m very pleased,” a delighted Cecil said.  “I had the chance of going for a Listed race at Pontefract so we got it right.”

Timepiece is a younger half-sister to the Dansili winners Passage Of Time (G1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud) and Father Time (G2 King Edward VII Stakes).

Her sire Zamindar is regarded as an effective sire of fillies.  Of his 17 stakes winners overall, 12 are fillies.  And all 5 of his G1 winners are fillies – Zarkava, Coquerelle, Darjina, Zenda and now Timepiece.

Zamindar (Gone West) stood the past season at Banstead Manor Stud in Newmarket for a 12,000 pounds fee.
