Time’s up for Belle

Perth trainer Ben Pearce is hoping Belle Times can bow out of racing a winner at Ascot on Boxing Day.

Belle Times (4m Numerous Times – Tritri by Tribu), an impressive last start winner at Bunbury, is in foal to Taunton Vale sire Bearcat (Danehill).

“She’s already been tested  45 days PPT,” Pearce said.  “I’ve entered her for Saturday and it looks a nice race for her.  Hopefully she can go out a winner.”

Pearce, who prepares a team at Lark Hill, took over the training of Belle Times from Fred Kersley back in October after being approached by the mare’s owner-breeder Noel Grey.

The move paid immediate dividends with Belle Times scoring an emphatic victory at Pinjarra back on November 18.  It was this win that proved the catalyst for a successful campaign, which has yielded two wins and two narrow seconds for the four-year old.

“After her unplaced run at Belmont late in August, she was sent to Taunton Vale and served by Bearcat,” Pearce said.  “Belle Times spent a couple of weeks in the paddock and then joined my team at Lark Hill.  She’s a good mare who always tries her heart out.”

Belle Times is by Canadian G1 winner Numerous Times who also stands at Taunton Vale.  He represents the Mr Prospector sireline through Numerous.  She opened his account when a 2yo winner at Belmont in July 2008.
