Top day for Arrowfield Stud

Top Drop put the finishing touches to a splendid day’s racing for Arrowfield Stud sires on Saturday.  The Gerald Ryan trained galloper gave weight all round to win the Jim Beam Handicap (1200m) at Rosehill in a class-record time of 1.09.94s.

Top Drop (4h Snitzel – Fine Red by Red Ransom) has been a model of consistency with 3 wins and 6 placings in 16 starts.  His minors include the G2 AJC Stan Fox Stakes and GCTC Magic Millions Guineas.

He is by Arrowfield Stud sire Snitzel from an unraced daughter of Listed VRC St Leger winner Kilspindie.  The Danehill mare is a sister to Caulfield stakes winner Brackenbury and half sister to Flemington stakes winner Rullene (Rory’s Jester).

Top Drop is inbred 3 x 3 to Danehill and descends from the outstanding NZ mare Jandell whose daughters and grand-daughters have produced more than a dozen stakes winners including G1 Vinaka and G2 Skoozi Please.

Arrowfield stallion Not A Single Doubt opened the Rosehill card with Listed Heritage Stakes winner Karuta Queen.  In Melbourne, Arrowfield champion Redoute’s Choice sired Sister Madly to a G3 victory at Caulfield while Flying Spur and Starcraft sired the first two fillies home in the LR Thousand Guineas Prelude.

Top Drop’s sire Snitzel stands at a 2011 fee of $27,500 (inc gst).
