Swettenham Stud resident Host sired the top-priced filly at the Inglis Great Southern Foal Sale in Melbourne this week.
Host’s filly from Ardent Command made $38,000 when purchased by a Victorian client of Wm Inglis. She is a younger sister of Flying Hostess who was Host’s first-ever winner at Ballarat in January 2012.
Ardent Command (Commands) is from the immediate family of Group 1 WATC Derby winner Firing Range (Kala Dancer). She was bred back to Swettenham’s Group 1 winning sire Master of Design last year.
Host is poised to break through the $1 million mark in Australian earnings this season. He’s less than $4,000 away from seven-figures after Welcome Ned won a Mt Gambier maiden earlier this week.
The Swettenham resident is running fifth on the Australian second-season premiership with 19 individual winners this season.
Host (Chi) also helped Chinon (Bertolini) make the Top 5 on the Great Southern Broodmare leader-board at Oaklands Junction. The Kiwi bred mare made $45,000 to the bid of agent Robert Roulston.
Chinon won 6 races in New Zealand and was also stakes placed in at Riccarton. She was offered with a PPT to Host from her first season at stud last year.
Host will stand for a $9,900 (inc gst) fee at Swettenham this year.
