Vinery sire More Than Ready came up short in the Golden Slipper but the Hunter Valley stud had already come up trumps with Typhoon Tracy earlier in the day at Rosehill.

Vinery stallion More Than Ready was gunning for a Golden Slipper hat-trick after priors with Sebring and Phelan Ready.  His filly More Strawberries was a maiden going into the Slipper, nevertheless, she flew home to finish third to Crystal Lily and Decision Time.

The Slipper placing was a bonus for Vinery after Typhoon Tracy delivered another Group 1 in the Queen of the Turf Stakes for trainer Peter Moody and owners John and Fumai Hutchins.

Typhoon Tracy is by recently deceased sire Red Ransom who was a mainstay at Vinery both here and in Kentucky for many years.  She has built up a 13: 10-1-1 record which includes G1 victories in the STC Coolmore Stakes, VRC Myer Classic, MRC Orr Stakes and MRC Futurity Stakes.

The Queen of the Turf result was never in question despite fears she wouldn’t handle a slow track.  “Typhoon Tracy makes my job easy – she’s a real racehorse,” Moody said.  “She will most likely run in the All-Aged Stakes but she’s also in the Doncaster Mile.”

Typhoon Tracy’s residual value would be enormous even without the growing list on Group 1 gongs to her name.  Her dam Tracy’s Element was a Champion filly in South Africa and, since being repatriated to Australia in 1996, has foaled seven winners.

Besides Typhoon Tracy, the Red Ransom – Tracy’s Element combination has also produced G1 placegetter Kylikwong and Flemington stakes-winner Red Element who has just joined the Glenlogan Park roster.

It’s a stallion making family going back to second dam Princess Tracy (Ahonoora).  She is a sister to the dam of Champion WA sire Bletchley Park and her foals included successful sires Danasinga, Cullen and Towkay.

Typhoon Tracy is already favourite to claim the 2009-10 Horse of the Year crown and she should firm into red figures after the Randwick autumn carnival.
