Alwyn Park sire Trade Fair (GB) banked his first black-type in Australia with LR Belmont Classic (2200m) winner Proceedwithcaution.

Proceedwithcaution (3g Trade Fair – Kinchica by King of Kings) is trained by Darren McAuliffe for owners Geoff van de Molen and Nikita Richards.  The lightly-raced gelding claimed a Pinjarra maiden in December and has added three wins at Belmont since the winter season started in May.

He sprinted through a gap in the straight to defeat the fillies Star Of Husson (Husson) and I’m Feeling Lucky (Bletchley Park) on Saturday.  “He’s still learning but is a wonderful horse to train,” McAuliffe said.  “We’ve always been confident he could win these types of races

“The owners got an offer from Hong Kong after his last win in the Dayana Plate,” McAuliffe revealed.  “There’s only a slim chance of him continuing to race here.”

Proceedwithcaution was bred by Kentville proprietor Rick Hart and cost a mere $750 as a foal at the 2011 Perth Magic Millions Autumn Sale.  He is the penultimate foal of Kinchica who retired a maiden after 14 starts in the Great Southern.

A Juddmonte homebred, Trade Fair (Zafonic) won at Group 3 level in the Criterion Stakes at Newmarket in addition to a Group 1 placing in the Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket.  His northern hemisphere progeny have won black-type races in England, Dubai, Hong Kong, Qatar and Sweden.
