Redoute’s Choice completed a feature double on the weekend after Bid Spotter won the G3 Hobart Cup on Sunday.  Australia’s reigning champion sire claimed the first leg when King’s Rose won the G2 Sir Tristram Fillies Classic at Te Rapa on Saturday.

Bid Spotter (5g Redoute’s Choice – Isolda by Sir Tristram) is part-owned at trained by Graeme Rogerson.  The gelding had been placed in the Listed Frank Underwood Cup and Listed Australia Day Cup in Sydney before travelling south.

He won the Hobart Cup by a half-length from Organised (Commands) and Davcon (Anglia) and will now be set for the G3 Launceston Cup on February 23
Bid Spotter cost $850,000 from the Baramul Stud draft at the 2007 Gold Coast Magic Millions yearling sale.  Baramul owner Gerry Harvey kept a share and the gelding has now earned over $437,000.  His dam Isolda was a G1 winner of the AJC Champagne Stakes.

King’s Rose took an unassailable lead in the NZB Filly of the Year series after winning the Sir Tristram Classic from Insurgent (Ishiguru) and Annie Higgins (O’Reilly).

She is a homebred for Hong Kong based Dr Gene Tsoi and has won five stakes races this season including the G1 NZ 1000 Guineas in November.

King’s Rose (3f Redoute’s Choice – Nureyev’s Girl by Nureyev) will be heavily favoured to win the last two legs of the Filly of the Year series in the Lowland Stakes and New Zealand Oaks.  Te Akau Racing boss David Ellis purchased her Red Ransom half-brother for a sale-topping $875,000 at the NZB Karaka yearling sale last month.

Redoute’s Choice has sired the winners of 8 Australian stakes races so far this season.  King’s Rose has added another 5 across the Tasman.
