Former Hunter Valley stallion Trotamondo (Chi) has been relocated to Belay Stud in Western Australia.
Trotamondo (Hussonet) was named Horse Of The Year after sweeping the 2005 Chilean 3YO Triple Crown. He also won the G3 Native Diver Stakes at Hollywood Park after a year on the sidelines.
There have been 8 winners from 13 starters among his first-crop three year-olds including metropolitan performers Rewind Time, Magondo, Santiago and Hot to Trot.
“He arrived over here in great shape from Yarraman Park and we are very happy with him,” Belay studmaster Robert Martin said. “We plan to cover our own mares with him but would also be happy to accommodate some outside mares as well.”
Trotamondo will replace Brocco (USA) at Belay Stud. A G1 racehorse and sire, Brocco also started his stud career in the Hunter Valley before transferring west for short stints at Durham Lodge and Quanah Park before standing at Martin’s Greenough property south of Geraldton.
Trotamondo is the second son of Hussonet to be based in Western Australia following HeytesburyStud resident Husson Lightning. He will stand for a fee of $1,500 and Martin can be contacted for more information on 0428 261 114.
