Trust In A Gust banked another VOBIS Gold cheque while making short work of his rivals in the Le Pine Funerals Hcp (1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday.

The ultra-consistent Keep The Faith stallion controlled the race as the even-money favourite before streaking clear to score by more than two lengths.  “He makes his own luck and I was always confident in running,” jockey Brad Rawiller said.  “There’s a nice race for him during the spring carnival.”

Trust In A Gust (4h Keep The Faith – Subtle Breeze by Storm Cat) was named VOBIS Horse-of-the-Year after a string bonus wins in 2013-14.   “He had earned over $500,000 before today and got in with 55.5kg,” Rawiller continued.  “Darren (Weir) had placed him perfectly.

“He can be a bit of a lad so you’ve gotta keep on top of him.  But there’s no easier ride for a jockey – I love him.”

Trust In A Gust pocketed another $68,000 in prizemoney and bonuses at Caulfield.  He was bred and sold by Swettenham Stud for $45,000 at the 2012 Inglis Melbourne Premier yearling sale.

“He’s tough and has been a great advertisement for VOBIS Gold,” Weir declared.  “We knew he was on track after the girls worked him this morning.

“The race worked out beautifully.  He didn’t have to do much work and was jogging outside the leader.  Then he just let down in the straight.”

His dam Subtle Breeze is owned by Swettenham’s Adam Sangster and she has a 2yo Equiano colt with Adelaide trainer Lloyd Kennewell and a yearling colt by Master Of Design.

Trust In A Gust is the leading earner for Greta West Stud sire Keep The Faith.  A stakes winning son of Sunday Silence, he is standing for a $4,400 service fee in 2014.
