Tycoon colt too good in Guineas Prelude

Rich Enuff is a firming favourite for the G1 Caulfield Guineas after extending his unbeaten three year-old record on Sunday.

The Written Tycoon colt heads the TAB Caulfield Guineas market at $3.20 following a runaway victory in the G3 Guineas Prelude (1400m) on Sunday.  It followed similar wins in the G2 Danehill Stakes (1200m) at Flemington and LR Mitchell McKenzie Stakes (1000m) at Moonee Valley.

“You are never too confident in racing,” winning trainer Ken Keys said.  “But it’s pretty hard not to like what we just saw.  He’s a big baby and is still not there yet as a race horse.”

Rich Enuff (3c Written Tycoon – Hotnuff by Spartacus) was geared down in the final furlong to score by more than two lengths from Looks Like The Cat and Awesome Rock.  “That was very easy,” jockey Michael Rodd said.  “We got caught wide and did a fair bit of work but he just does it so easy.  And that turn of foot is breathtaking.”

Keys and his wife Louise bred his dam Hotnuff back to Written Tycoon this year.  The mare has a 2yo colt and a yearling filly by Chatswood Stud sire Reward For Effort.

Written Tycoon stands at Woodside Park for a $13,750 (inc gst) service fee.
