Tycoon filly bolts in at Cranbourne

Written Tycoon is covering a book of 140 plus mares at Woodside Park this season and there will be even more enquiries after his filly Sassy Tycoon bolted in at Cranbourne on Sunday.

Sassy Tycoon (3f Written Tycoon – Sassy Vixen by Towkay) had been run down on debut at Sale last month and opened a $1.85 favourite for the De Bortoli Wines Maiden Plate (1000m).

Despite drifting to $2.80, the Lyn Tolson trained filly was never in danger.  “She bounced in front and quickened off the bridle around the corner,” jockey Michael Walker said.  “She was toey in the prelim and feels like a real racehorse – I only had to ride her hands and heels to the finish.”

Sassy Tycoon clocked 59.29s on a Good 3 which compared favourably with the 59.98s recorded by rock-hard gelding Canali on a Dead 4 in the Apache Cat Classic.

Written Tycoon stands at Woodside Park for a $13,750 (inc gst) service fee.  “We will continue to take bookings but will have to call stumps soon,” general manager Murray Tillett said.  “He’s no longer a secret, trainers love him and breeders can see what he is doing at the sales.”

A Written Tycoon colt sold for $175,000 at the Inglis Ready 2 Race Sale last week.  Earlier this year, he had two colts change hands for $220,000 each at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale.

“He had another stakes winner the other day with It Is Written in the Testa Rossa Stakes at Caulfield.” Tillett added.  “He cannot be any hotter.”
