Former New Zealand shuttler Storming Home sired his first Group winner in England when Godolphin filly Flying Cloud won the Ribblesdale Stakes (G2) at Royal Ascot on Thursday.

Previously prepared by Andre Fabre, Storming Home had won on debut at Longchamp in April and then added the Prix Cleopatre (G3) at Saint-Cloud last month before being transferred to Saeed Bin Suroor’s stable.

Flying Cloud (3f Storming Home – Criquette by Shirley Heights) will now be set for the Irish Oaks (G1).  She is a younger sister to Captain Webb, who became Storming Home first stakes winner when landing the Listed Glasgow Stakes at Hamilton in May 2008.  Their dam Criquette is a half-sister to Queen Elizabeth II Stakes winner Markofdistinction.

Storming Home shuttled from Nunnery Stud in Norfolk to Stoney Bridge in NZ for a one-off season in 2006.  He now stands at Darley Japan.

His sole Kiwi bred crop sold to $90,000 at the 2009 NZ Bloodstock Karaka Sales.  His top-priced yearling was the colt from There’s No Doubt bought by Waikato Bloodstock from the Curraghmore draft.

Storming Home, who won more Group 1 races than any other son of Machiavellian, stood at Stoney Bridge’s Waikato base for a NZ $10,000 fee.
