An Unbridled’s Song colt topped Day 1 of the Ocala Breeders 2YO Sale in Florida on Tuesday.
The gray or roan colt out of FuPeg mare Kauai Calls made $200,000 to the bid of Blinkers On Racing Stable. He had changed hands for $180,000 at the Keeneland September yearling sale. Prior to the sale, he had posted the fastest breeze-up with a 200 metre hit-out in 10 seconds.
The opening session average increased 13% to $23,456. The clearance rate improved 6 points to 79%. A total of 24 horses sold for $50,000 or more compared with 14 at the corresponding session last year.
Top price among Australian shuttlers with two year-olds catalogued was Darley sire Hard Spun. His filly from Royal Academy mare Honeypenny sold to Elisabeth Alexander for $100,000. She is a half sister to Group winner Millie’s Quest.
The two-day sale concludes on Wednesday when the last of 723 lots go through the ring.
