An Unbridled’s Song half-sister to G1 winning sires Roman Ruler (Fusaichi Pegasus) and El Corredor (Mr. Greeley) made $1 million on Day 2 of the Keeneland September yearling sale on Monday night.

The grey filly from Silvery Swan (Silver Deputy) was consigned by Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales Agency and was purchased by Whisper Hill Farm’s Mandy Pope.  The same agency consigned Sunday’s session-topping A.P. Indy colt.

“Physically, she’s very classy, very well balanced,” Pope said.  “She’s a little immature, but she’s a May foal, so she’s going to grow.  Her attitude was wonderful; she’s just a nice horse to be around.  Of course her pedigree is wonderful.  If she can run like her brothers did, she’ll be a very lovely horse.”

John McCormack Bloodstock, on behalf of Nobutaka Tada, went to $750,000 to purchase a three-quarter brother to Horse of the Year Zenyatta (Street Cry).  The Street Cry colt is out of G1 winning mare Balance (Thunder Gulch).

Balance is a half-sister Zenyatta and her A.P. Indy colt brought a sales-topping $4.20 million at Keeneland last year.

Besilu Stables paid $725,000 for a Tapit filly from Gainesway Farm.  Her dam Zealous Cat is related to 1999 Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Cat Theif.

A filly from the first crop of Horse of the Year Curlin commanded $700,000 from West Point Thoroughbreds.  The Kentucky-bred is the first foal from the stakes-winning Tears I Cry (Chester House) who hails from the family of Street Cry.

A $650,000 Elusive Quality colt rounded out Monday’s Top 5 on the leader-board.  He is a full brother to G1 star Quality Road and was knocked down to Fox Hill Farm.

On Monday, 62 yearlings sold for a total of $20.34 million.  The average dipped 6.5% to $328,065 while the median declined by 4% to $300,000.

The 13-day sale continues with the opening session of Book 2 on Tuesday.  The sale runs through to September 24.
