Unique foal deal for Arlington

Lincoln Farm has announced a unique offer for its Red Ransom stallion Arlington this season.

“If broodmare owners don’t want their 2014 foal by Arlington, we will buy it back at weaning for TWICE the service fee paid,” Lincoln Farm’s Nick Posa said this week.

Arlington is a Group 1 performed half-brother to successful sire Savabeel and covered an initial book of 106 mares twelve months ago.  He’s available an unchanged advertised fee of $5,500 (inc gst) this year.

“Obviously, we don’t expect any takers but it indicates the confidence we have in Arlington,” Posa added.  “He competed soundly in black-type company and the success on both sides of his pedigree speaks for itself.”

Arlington (Red Ransom – Savannah Success by Success Express) retired to Hunter Valley based Lincoln Farm after winning five races in Australia and New Zealand from 1100m and 1800m.

Proven sires Charge Forward, Domesday and Red Dazzler lead Red Ransom’s sons at stud in Australia and the next wave includes Arlington, All American, Onemorenomore and Duporth.

A magnificent individual, Arlington was a seven-figure buy for Graeme Rogerson as a yearling and he was stakes placed as a two year-old in the LR Canonbury Stakes and LR Fernhill Hcp at Randwick.

Resuming at three, he won first-up at Canterbury over 1100m in preparation for the autumn classics that culminated with a G1 placing to Weekend Hussler in Randwick Guineas (1600m).

Rogerson brought him back for two wins at Randwick the following season.  “I like Arlington a lot and can see him reaching weight-for-age company,” Rogerson said.  “I thought he would be a stayer but now I will keep him for races up to a mile.”

Sent to the trainer’s home base in New Zealand, Arlington responded with a running double at Tauranga and Trentham prior to Group placings in the Japan NZ Trophy and Tauranga Stakes.

Apart from the Red Ransom sireline, Arlington’s pedigree is complemented by his trans-Tasman dam Savannah Success who was a G1 winner of the Storm Queen Stakes and New Zealand Oaks.

Her first winner Savabeel graduated to a Group 1 triumph in the 2004 Cox Plate and there have been 24 stakes winners from his first four crops.
