Star Tasmanian mare Lady Lynette is headed back to Melbourne for feature autumn races after winning the Listed Vamos Stakes (1400m) in front of her home state fans in Launceston on Wednesday.

Lady Lynette (6m Ladoni – Queen’s Own by Coronation Day) started a long odds-on favourite after a last-start victory in the LR Bow Mistress Stakes and was too good for Sydney mare Princess Quality (Elusive Quality) and Winged Charm (Hawk Wing).

Lady Lynette is the best mare to ever come out of Tasmania.  She has won the G3 Tesio Stakes at Moonee Valley twice and also doubled up in the Vamos Stakes after a similar victory two years ago.

Bred and sold by Armidale Stud for $13,000 at the 2006 Tasmanian Magic Millions yearling sale, Lady Lynette has now won 12 races and over $752,000 in prizemoney.  Armidale sold her younger brother to Cranbourne trainer Mark Webb for $50,000 at the Tasmanian Magic Millions on Tuesday.

Lady Lynette will now progress to the G2 Blamey Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on March 12.  “After the Blamey she will run in the G2 Sunline Stakes at Moonee Valley,” trainer Scott Brunton said. “She wasn’t really suited by the way the Vamos was run.  Sit and sprints are not her caper but she did a terrific job and we couldn’t be prouder.”

Brunton and his father Dave train at Seven Mile Beach in Hobart and the Vamos was the highlight of a winning four-timer on Launceston Cup day.  Lock It In Eddie (Blu Tusmani) won the LR George Adams Plate while Highland Lassie (Partners Choice) and Hexy Legs (Youthful Legs) were also successful in support races.

The Vamos Stakes was sponsored by Eliza Park and, in addition to the $60,000 prizemoney, her connections also won a free service to Statue of Liberty.
