Vinery sires framed the feature mile at Doomben on Saturday with three of their runners filling the quartet in the Brisbane Hcp-LR.
Cantbuybetter (Casino Prince) took advantage of an inside run to defeat Hopfgarten (Mossman) by a long-head with the favourite Crack Me Up (Mossman) flying home to be beaten a half-length into fourth.
It was the second stakes win for Cantbuybetter following the Members Hcp-LR at Doomben in May. “I’ve always thought he’s potentially the best horse I’ve trained,” Ben Currie declared. “We were going to chase the $1 million Railway Stakes in Perth but there’s good money in our own backyard.
“He’s been the victim of circumstances in his past few runs and it was a super win today. Full credit to Jamie Kah. She’s in top form and it was a great ride along the rails”
The next assignment for Cantbuybetter is the Bernborough Hcp at Doomben on December 30. At $300,000, it’s one of the richest Listed races in Australia.
Casino Prince sired him from Grafton winner Lingerie Girl (Xaar). She’s a half-sister to the dam of stakes winners Tenant’s Tiara (AJC Eskimo Prince Stakes-LR) and Zoutenant (Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic-LR).
Cantbuybetter is one of 15 individual stakes winners by Casino Prince. He was purchased for $40,000 by Jeb Racing at the 2013 Magic Millions HIT Sale and has won 9 races in 28 starts for earnings of $314,800.
