Visitor banks bonus at Moonee Valley

Dubawi filly Soapy Star banked an extra $100,000 for her connections after a valuable victory in the L F Signs Inglis Bonus (1514m) at Moonee Valley on Friday.

Soapy Star (3f Dubawi – Babassu by Desert King) settled just in behind the speed and then surged home in the straight to grab General Groove (General Nediym) on the line.  Under The Leaner (Strada) was less than a length away in third place.

The visiting Kris Lees trained filly has now earned over $260,000 from 5 wins and 4 placings in 11 starts.  She was a $12,000 buy from the draft of Adelargo Breeding Enterprises at the 2011 Inglis Scone yearling sale.

Soapy Star’s dam Babassu won three races up to a mile in Sydney and she has a 2yo gelding by Dubawi and a weanling colt by Shaft.

Her NZ bred second dam Kelkaren (Marauding) is a half-sister to Zeditave’s top-class sprinting mares Ruffles (G1 VRC Newmarket Hcp) and Ateates (G2 AJC Expressway Stakes).  Ruffles was trained by Kris’ father Max Lees.
