All Too Hard 2yo filly Viva Vienna has banked another winning cheque for Te Akau Racing with a brave victory in the Website Angels Stakes (1100m) at Te Rapa.
Viva Vienna had opened her account on debut at Te Rapa in November and was runner-up to subsequent Group 1 Sistema Stakes (1200m) winner Tokyo Tycoon (Satono Aladdin) at Pukekohe on Boxing Day.
Freshened by trainer Mark Walker, she resumed last month winning a Taupo trial and crossed the field on Saturday to sit outside Farravallo before dropping the front-runner at the furlong. Backmarkers Glamour Tycoon (Written Tycoon) and Darci’s Angel (Darci Brahma) issued challenges but she was in for the fight to score by a head and short-neck.
“She was left in front a long way from home, so it was a good tough effort to see it out,” Walker said. “She’s a natural two year-old with a good action, very professional, and has the speed to race handily.”
Viva Vienna (2f All Too Hard – Anna Of Austria by Snitzel) has several alternatives looking ahead including a black-type option in the Auckland Futurity Stakes (LR, 1400m) at Pukekohe on May 27.
She was bred and sold by Westbury Stud for $100,000 to Te Akau Racing’s David Ellis at the 2022 NZB Yearling Sale at Karaka. Vinery sire All Too Hard crosses with Snitzel mares at an 82% strike-rate and his Kiwi filly is from a three-quarter sister to Geelong Classic (LR, 2200m) winner Milestone (Redoute’s Choice).
“She has a tremendous will to win and with that attitude she will only continue to improve,” Ellis predicted. “We have a couple in the stable by All Too Hard that are going well like our recent Taupo winner Insatiable.
“I also bought an All Too Hard at the Magic Millions Sale in January. She’s flying through her breaking in and is a very exciting filly in the making.” The All Too Hard filly is from Moonchild (Charge Forward) and was purchased from the Glenbeigh Farm draft for $160,000 on the Gold Coast.
