War Chant procession led by Dance Music

Dance Music has been the lamp-lighter for War Chant (USA) this season and there’s been a procession of winners taking her lead in the last month.

The Yarradale Stud champion has a worldwide roll-call of 44 individual stakes winners that have struck 87 times in black-type races.  Dance Music has weighed in with four – 2018 Placid Ark Stakes, 2020 Northam Cup & Starstruck Classic and the 2021 La Trice Classic on Perth Cup Day.

War Chant sprinter Leica Jaguar completed an Ascot hat-trick between December 9 and December 26 for trainer Neville Parnham and owner-breeder Mike Fagan.  “All three have been good wins especially the first when he stormed home,” Parnham said.  “He was ridden more forward than usual today and it was a good effort to get up and beat the second horse who was also brave to the line.

“It’s also good for Mike who has been a solid stable client for many years.”

Leica Jaguar led home a War Chant trifecta in the Western Racepix Hcp (1000m) on Boxing Day from Mood Swings and Forest War.  His dam Dane Commodore (Danetime) also completed a hat-trick at Ascot in March 2009 and her latest foal is a yearling filly by All American.

City wins by Witchfulthinking (Sandown-Hillside) and Alien From Mars (Ascot) continued the red-hot run while War Class (Mt Barker), Ladies Of London, Call Again and Gifted Warrior (Bunbury) saluted on either side of New Year’s Day.

Leica Jaguar’s stablemate Guns Of Navarone gave notice he will be winning more races this campaign at the Belmont trials on Monday.  He’s a 7yo son of War Chant and is primed to break through a half-million dollars in prizemoney after defeating LR Belmont Newmarket winner Saracino in a hit-out over 1000m.

War Chant’s first 2yo starter this season isn’t far away following the win of Amelia’s Chant earlier on Monday morning.  She’s a homebred for Peter Walsh and is the final foal from Eastward (Exceed And Excel) who was a Moonee Valley winner for Ron Sayers (Yarradale Stud) and Eddie Rigg (Geisel Park).

Perth Magic Millions has 13 yearlings by War Chant at its February Sale comprising 6 from Yarradale plus outside vendors Alwyn Park, Gold Front, Mogumber Park, WBA, Clare Downs and Dawson Stud.

War Chant topped last year’s Perth Magic Millions with a $240,000 filly purchased by clients of Sydney trainer Bjorn Baker.  Named Aitchdeetee, she is bred to be good being a half-sister to stakes winners Quilista and Red Can Man.
