NSW based stallion Sahara Jay sired his first winner when Sahara Magic broke through in the Warwick Daily News Maiden Plate (1200m) on Saturday.
Sahara Magic (3f Sahara Jay – Evening Magic by Evening Magic) is a homebred for Jim Payne who prepares her at Warwick’s Allman Park racecourse . She is the first foal to race by the sire and will be winning more races according to her trainer.
“She’s still as green as grass,” Payne said. “She came from midfield to win by over a length and I think she will eventually get a mile.”
Sahara Jay is by former Lyndhurst sire Canadian Silver and won races at Eagle Farm and Doomben as well as finishing second in the 2004 Sunshine Coast Guineas.
He was originally based at Nick Nolan’s Noralla Stud in Queensland’s Gladfield Valley before transferring to Peppers Stud in Dubbo. Nolan’s current resident Bullmore (Danroad) sired his first winner when Baymore won at Emerald last month.
