Westbury Stud welcomes Artistic & Miss Vandal

NZ Oaks winner Artistic will visit Westbury Stud’s first-season sire Reliable Man this season.

Gerry Harvey’s Karaka nursery also welcomes Eurozone’s dam Miss Vandal to the roll-call of mares visiting Swiss Ace this year.

Artistic (Darci Brahma) is a homebred for The Oaks Stud and she won four races from Shaune Ritchie’s Cambridge stable including the G1 NZ Oaks at Trentham.  “We bought 10% of Reliable Man,” The Oaks manager Rick Williams said.  “It’s a great mating.”

The NZ Oaks climaxed a wonderful season for the filly after previous victories in the Sunline Vase and Bonecrusher Stakes.  She is out of the Australian-bred Dahar mare Artless who is also the dam of G1 Epsom Handicap winner Excellerator (Marscay).

Reliable Man (Dalakhani) won the 2011 French Derby and he bowed out with another G1 in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick in April.

Eurozone (3c Northern Meteor – Miss Vandal by Don’t Say Halo) kept his unbeaten record intact in the LR Rosebud Hcp (1200m) last Saturday.

He is the 8th foal from G3 winning dam Miss Vandal who is booked to Westbury’s G1 Oakleigh Plate winner Swiss Ace.  Her other winners include Group winner Miss Marielle (Encosta de Lago) who is a three-quarter sister to Eurozone.

Miss Vandal has already foaled to Glenloagan Park sire Rothesay this season.

Swiss Ace has his first two year-olds set to hit the tracks this coming season.  He stands for a $10,000 (plus gst) fee at Westbury Stud.
