Westspeed Extra boosts Perth Magic Millions

Racing and Wagering Western Australia has given the local industry a welcome boost on the eve of the 2011 Perth Magic Millions yearling sale.  RWWA has announced the introduction of ‘Westspeed Extra’ which will increase the current bonus scheme by 50%.

For yearlings foaled in the 2009 breeding season, owners will be given the option of paying an additional nomination fee of $1,100 (inc gst) to increase the Westspeed owners bonus payable on all prime metropolitan wins from $15,000 to $22,500.

RWWA Chief Executive Richard Burt said Westspeed Extra would be available to owners purchasing yearlings through the Magic Millions Perth yearling sales that commence at Belmont Park on Wednesday evening.  “Westspeed Extra will provide the owner of a Westspeed eligible horse the opportunity to race for prizemoney, including Westspeed bonus, of $51,750 in each open 2yo and 3yo event throughout that horse’s career.”

Magic Millions Acting Managing Director David Chester said news of the significant boost to the WA scheme was great news on the eve of the state’s major sale.  “It will give local buyers added incentive to invest in yearlings at this week’s sales.  We have an outstanding line up of yearlings in Perth.  I’ve inspected a number of yearlings who wouldn’t be out of place at any sale in the southern hemisphere.”

The first session of the Perth Magic Millions yearling sale commences at 5pm (WA time) on Wednesday and continues through Thursday and Friday before the fourth and final session on Sunday.

Westspeed Administrator John Doherty will be available at the Belmont Park Sales Complex this week to answer queries in respect to Westspeed Extra or any other aspects of the scheme.
