Whispering campaign for Churchill Downs

Blue Gum Farm stallion Churchill Downs registered his second winner in as many days when Whisper Downs scored a most impressive victory at Geelong on Friday.

Whisper Downs (3g Churchill Downs – Gur by Lake Coniston) was always travelling strongly and he proved too good for the highly-rated Pecuniary.  He was a $120,000 purchase from the 2010 BC3 Thoroughbreds Future Stars Sale.

The David Hayes trained gelding was placed in the Adelaide Magic Millions 2YO Classic at his only start last season and he certainly looks destined for better things this season.

The win came just 24 hours after Spelldancer opened her account again older horses at Bendigo.

Spelldancer (3 f Churchill Downs – Cantrip by Canny Lad) is trained by Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra and she held on to win by a nose third time out.

Churchill Downs (Danehill) finished in the Top 10 among First-Season Sires in 2010-11 and several of his offspring are ready to resume including Moonee Valley winner Emerald Downs.  She is a half-sister to Blue Gum sire Turffontein.

Churchill Downs had 26 second-crop yearlings average $53,326 at the Inglis Melbourne Premier and Adelaide Magic Millions earlier this year.
