White mare wins at Wyong

White mare The Opera House took 9 starts to break her maiden but she looked very impressive winning the Video Ezy Maiden Plate (2100m) at Wyong on Thursday.

The Opera House (4m Zabeel – Carmina Burana by Star Way) is a three quarter sister to champion galloper Might and Power and was a $270,000 buy for John Singleton at the 2008 Gold Coast Magic Millions.

Melbourne Cup winning jockey Corey Brown was impressed with the sharp turn of foot the mare showed in the straight.

“She isn’t a sit and sprint horse so I let her roll at the 400m,” he said. “It’s good to get that one under her belt. She was very relaxed and on that performance will stay all day.”

The Opera House was without doubt the most photographed lot in the history of the Magic Millions. The media attention was massive. She’s the only white thoroughbred to go through the sale ring in Australia.
