Widden Valley to stand at Hollylodge Thoroughbreds

Victorian based Hollylodge Thoroughbreds has signed Widden Valley to stand at its Avenel property this year.

Widden Valley (4h Anabaa – Rose Archway by Archway) is a superbly bred individual and won two of just five starts before a joint injury curtailed his career.  “We never really saw the best of Widden Valley,” trainer Chris Waller said.  “He had a great attitude and tremendous ability.  I was setting him for the Villiers before he went amiss.”

Widden Valley is an outstanding individual and that ensured he made $900,000 at the 2008 Inglis Easter yearling sale.  He won a Wyong maiden in class record time and was placed in the $770,000 Inglis Guineas at Scone in what tuned out to be his final start.

Former Widden shuttler Anabaa has sired 81 stakes winners to date topped by French icon Goldikova.  His sons at stud include King Of Prussia who is emerging as a prolific winner-getter at Greta West Stud.

Widden Valley’s dam Rose Archway was all heart winning the G1 Australian Oaks, G2 Angus Armanasco Stakes and LR Naturalism Stakes.

Hollylodge owner Christine Nevill will stand Widden Valley for a $3,300 (inc gst) service fee.  He will join Zupaone (Flying Spur) on the Hollylodge roster.
