Winner a day for Written Tycoon

Written Tycoon galloper Howmuchdoyouloveme has returned from two years in the wilderness to win the Celebrations Hcp (1100m) at Rosehill.

It was his first victory since the G3 Healy Stakes (1200m) at Eagle Farm in June 2013.

Burdened with 61kg before Samantha Clenton’s claim, he was appearing for the first time after finishing last in the G3 Show County Stakes at Randwick in August.  “He was one of my better rides for today,” Clenton said.  “He came off the bridle a long way out and was just too good for them.”

Howmuchdoyouloveme (7g Written Tycoon – Betula Belle by Celtic Swing) was bred by Modewarre-based Bill Cockram and sold for a mere $5,000 at the 2010 Inglis Classic yearling sale.

Saturday’s result lifted his lifetime record to 8 wins in 29 starts and prizemoney of $655,895.  “He still has some wins in him and I couldn’t have been happier going into this race,” part-owner and trainer Con Karakatsanis said.  “I was a bit worried about the wet track but he is a horse with a lot of class.”

Written Tycoon has averaged a winner a day for the last month and he maintained that outstanding strike-rate with Written Return at Donald on Sunday.  The filly was making her debut for trainers Dennis & Robyn Beriman and won pulling up by next to three lengths.

The Woodside Park champion has spaced all Victorian-based stallions with 48 individual winners’ this season.  Next best are Magnus (32) and Reset (29).
