Vinery sire Mossman moved into the Top 10 of the 2YO winners’ premiership when Hendricus won the $50,000 Inglis Bonus at Wagga on Thursday.
Hendricus (2c Mossman – Only Vanda by Linamix) started a $2.40 favourite after running second on debut to the Clarrie Connors trained youngster Invest at Canterbury on April 20. She had a length to spare over fellow Inglis graduates Alert Miss (Alert) and Western Classic (Beautiful Crown).
Darley sire Exceed And Excel (12) holds a clear lead for the Australian 2YO winners’ title. The log-jam behind him includes Fastnet Rock (9), General Nediym (9), Snitzel (9), Stratum (9), Jet Spur (8), Fusaichi Pegasus (8) and Mossman (7).
Hendricus was a $62,500 buy from Twin Palms Stud at the 2010 Inglis Easter yearling sale. He is a half-brother and stablemate to the John O’Shea trained Warpath (Reset) who won the Listed ATC Aspiration Quality at Warwick Farm in March.
Their USA bred dam Only Vanda was a Canterbury winner for Twin Palms Stud. She has also foaled this season’s Sandown winner Limerock (Charge Forward).
O’Shea is making a habit of winning Inglis Bonus events having been successful with Elite Falls, Tigress Lily and Gujju earlier this season.
Mossman’s leading juvenile among his 7 winners is the Gerry Harvey homebred Dinner Date. The Lindsay Park filly won the Listed MRC Merson Cooper Stakes in November.
Mossman (Success Express) has sired 185 individual winners of 491 races at a 63% strike-rate. There are 26 stakes performers among his black-type brigade headed by the Nick Moraitis owned millionaire Love Conquers All.
Buffering will be the next Mossman to make seven-figures if he wins the G1 Stradbroke Hcp at Eagle Farm on June 11.
