Winning milestone for Bianconi

Lord Wimble notched the 1,000th Australian win for Swettenham Stud stalwart Bianconi at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

The stakes winning son of Danzig has also sired the winners of hundreds of races from his northern hemisphere stud career.  He shuttled to Australia for three seasons before Swettenham owner Adam Sangster bought him outright in 2033.

Bianconi (USA) was named Ireland’s 2YO Champion in 1997 after scoring a G2 victory in the Diadem Stakes at Royal Ascot.

He is from Group 1 winning mare Fall Aspen who founded a dynasty of her own foaling Group 1 winners Hamas, Fort Wood, Timber Country, Northern Aspen and the dams of Group 1 winners Dubai Millennium and Elnadim.

Lord Wimble (6g Bianconi – Sagacity by Carry A Smile) improved his record to 10 wins in 33 starts with a fast-finishing victory in the $100,000 Tony Beddison Cup (1600m) at Moonee Valley.

Bianconi has been represented by 18 stakes winners in Australia, the best of them being Group 1 sprinter Nicconi who is continuing the sireline at Widden Stud.

Other stakes winners include Above Deck (G1 Doomben Cup), Mr Martini (G2 MVRC Bill Stutt Stakes), Schilling (G2 Sandown Guineas), Fillydelphia (G3 BRC Rough Habit Plate), Bianmick (G3 MVRC JRA Cup), Streetfighter (G3 Newcastle Gold Cup) and Rhythm In Paris (G3 MRC Cockram Stakes).

Bianconi has also sired numerous Victorian-bred winners in South-East Asia and his New Zealand stock includes G3 Cuddle Stakes winner Leigh Valley.

Swettenham Stud stands Bianconi for a $3,300 (inc gst) service fee.
