Winning Revolution qualified for the Gytrash Series Final (1200m) at Morphettville next month when he handled a steep rise in grade to win the Croser Hcp (1050m) on Saturday.
The versatile son of Geisel Park sire Winning Rupert commenced this season with a Benchmark 64 win on a Heavy 8 at Morphettville in August and graduated to a Benchmark 78 victory on a Good 4 on Saturday.
“I was confident in running and he never looked like being beaten,” trainer Jon O’Connor confirmed. “He was dropping 5kg and had drawn a good barrier for a change. I told Tayla (Johnstone) to be handy and he sprinted home like a nice horse.”
Winning Revolution (5g Winning Rupert – Broughtons Fancy by Pastoral Pursuits) was bred by 21st Century Racing and is the first foal of an English-bred mare who won five races in the Old Dart before arriving out here in 2018.
“He travelled really well off a nice tempo and I had a handful of horse when we popped off the fence on the corner,” Johnstone reported. “It’s been hard to give him a good ride from some bad barriers lately but he tries his heart out 100%. He beat a pretty classy field today and I will stick with him and keep that connection with Jon as he goes through the grades.”
Winning Revolution has earned over $268,000 and the $105,000 Gytrash Series Final (1200m) is slated for November 23.
Winning Rupert’s unbeaten gallopers Iowna Benz and Dashing Rupert are primed to win again this week for Darby Racing. The Bjorn Baker-trained 3yo filly Iowna Benz won on debut at Newcastle earlier this month and she has opened a prohibitive $1.60 favourite for the Oriana Hcp (1000m) at Orange on Tuesday.
Dashing Rupert is on a hat-trick for syndicate manager Scott Darby in the Schweppes Hcp (1400m) at Warwick Farm on Wednesday. The promising 3yo gelding has opened at $9 following a running double at Goulburn for trainers Annabel Neasham & Rob Archibald.
Winning Rupert (Written Tycoon) is standing for an introductory $8,800 (inc GST) service fee at Geisel Park this year alongside Aysar ($8,800), Manhattan Rain ($8,250) and All American ($4,400). For bookings or further information, contact stud manager Conor Dunlop on 0447 434 735.
