Arrowfield Stud’s leading second-season sire Starcraft chimed in with a notable treble in Australia and NZ on the weekend.
Singapore Sling (3f Starcraft – Gin Sling by Western Symphony) fulfilled the promise she showed last season when scoring a Listed victory in the Soliloquy Stakes (1400m) at Ellerslie.
A Te Rapa winner on debut in July, Singapore Sling is trained by Lisa Anderson for Sildi Bloodstock. She launched a winning charge from the back of the field to win by a short head from the hot favourite Dating.
Unlike every other Starcraft starter to date, Singapore Sling is a grey and that comes from her second dam’s sire Kenmare. He was one of Arrowfield’s original shuttlers when arriving in Australia in 1990.
Singapore Sling is a half-sister to G2 performer Bombay Sling Danzero) and she was a cheap $15,000 buy from the Bluegables Farm draft at the 2009 NZB Select Sale.
Within an hour of the Soliloquy Stakes, Starcraft sired a running double at Sandown courtesy of Ain’tnofallenstar and Ace Acosta.
Ain’tnofallenstar (3f Starcraft – Ain’t Seen Nothin’ by Nothin’ Leica Dane) was a $270,000 graduate of the Arrowfield draft at the 2009 Gold Coast Magic Millions yearling sale. Her dam was a Listed winner at Flemington, Canberra and Kembla Grange and she has a 2yo colt by Starcraft and yearling colt by Hussonet.
Ace Acosta (3g Starcraft – Hill of Peace by Danehill) was bred by jockey Scott Seamer and made $120,000 at the 2009 Gold Coast Magic Millions Summer Sale. He is from a British bred Danehill mare who is a half-sister to G3 Curragh Cup winner Mkuzi (Halling) and French stakes winner Alliteration (Polish Precedent).
Hill of Peace has a 2yo colt named Secret Hills (Starcraft) and a yearling filly by Tale of the Cat.
Singapore Sling is the fourth stakes performer from Starcraft’s first Australian crop which is headed by G1 winning Blue Diamond Stakes colt Star Witness.
Starcraft stands the 2010 season at Arrowfield at a fee of $38,500 (inc. gst).
