Young Iglesia stallion Written Tycoon will return to the Eliza Park this following a spirited bidding duel at Oaklands earlier today.
With a number of prominent breeders and agents keen to secure the G2 winner, David O’Callaghan Bloodstock acting on behalf of Eliza Park eventually won through with a bid of $625,000.
A ‘relieved’ Eliza Park CEO, Cameron Croucher, couldn’t hide his delight following the verdict: “Written Tycoon is clearly one of the most promising stallions in the country and we’ve had tremendous feedback from breeders about his first crop of foals,” Croucher said.
“Courtesy of his magnificent conformation and ability to win a G2 as a two-year old, broodmare owners have supported him with 205 mares since he retired to Eliza Park in 2007.
“Pleasingly, within minutes of him being knocked down to David, many of those breeders have again pledged mares for this spring, knowing that the stallion would be returning to Eliza. “Ironically, this has been a perfect opportunity for Eliza Park to parade the stallion in front of a rapt audience and, indeed, we’ve managed to book in some new customers too!
“I believe this is a clear indication of Eliza Park’s opinion of Written Tycoon and our commitment to the Victorian breeding industry to have increased our ownership percentage in the stallion.”
