Yarraman Park has purchased a half-share in stakes-winning sprinter Hellbent ahead of the G2 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint (1200m) at Randwick.
The Kurt Goldman trained colt is a last-start winner of the Inglis Dash (1100m) at Flemington and is on the third-line of TAB markets at $8 for the $500,000 sprint this Saturday.
Hellbent is by Yarraman Park’s champion sire I Am Invincible from NZ bred Sydney winner Volkaspray (Volksraad). “We loved this bloke as a yearling and we’ve watched his career closely,” Yarraman Park’s Harry Mitchell said. “He is the right sort of horse to follow in the footprints of Hinchinbrook and I Am Invincible.”
“Hellbent has a similar profile to those two horses and the potential is there for him to become a Group 1 winner,” he told smh. “We will get a good measure of him on Saturday in a tough race that is going to become a Group 1.”
Hinchinbrook and I Am Invincible were immediate hits at stud siring Group 1 winners in Press Statement and Brazen Beau respectively without ever reaching those same heights in their racing own careers.
Hellbent has won three of his six starts and was placed in the Brian Crowley Stakes in the spring. He won at Flemington in January before being put away for the Arrowfield Sprint and Brisbane winter carnival.
