Peter Moody’s Zabeel filly Lights Of Heaven looked a stakes winner in waiting at Cranbourne on January 23 and she confirmed that rating when motoring home at Sandown on Wednesday.
Lights Of Heaven (3f Zabeel – I’m In Heaven by Volksraad) defeated Mayneda Strategy (Strategic) and Helena Girl (Commands) in the Ahern’s At Highways Hcp over 1400m. She had trounced her rivals by seven lengths on debut last month.
“She could be one right out of the box,” Moody said after his filly defeated older mares at the Hillside circuit. “She is still developing but they are only three once so she will be set for the Australian Oaks.”
The Zabeel filly will have her next lead-up in the Fillies’ Classic (1600m) at Moonee Valley later this month. Moody trains her for owner-breeder Judy Wanless who biggest win to date has been the 2001 Victorian Derby with Amalfi.
Lights Of Heaven’s dam I’m In Heaven won six races in Melbourne and Brisbane and is a sister to G3 Hawke’s Bay Highview Stakes winner Eloa. She foaled Testa Rossa winner Stellafire first-up and, following Lights Of Heaven, is a 2yo by colt O’Reilly and a yearling filly by Darci Brahma.
